Dr. Cahill is a partner in the law firm Dennigan Cahill Smith, LLC, “DCS.” She represents clients in personal family matters. Her work with clients is smart, empathetic and efficient. She knows that when it comes to one’s family, one-size does not fit all. Her client representation is individually crafted to meet the client’s needs.
Collaborative Law: Dr. Cahill was a founding member of the local collaborative law group (MJ-CLA), and has was one of the first to practice collaborative law in the Princeton area. This process involves two lawyers and clients, puts children first, and agrees to work cooperatively to come to a non-litigated resolution. It’s not right for all cases, and Dr. Cahill helps clients evaluate whether it is right for them.
Courtroom Litigation: There are some instances in which the court’s assistance is needed to protect a client’s rights, gather accurate financial information, or pursue other concerns. She empathetically guides her clients through this sometimes stressful process. Without compromising rights, Dr. Cahill promotes settlement, and assists her clients in creating and evaluating settlement options.
Mediation: Dr. Cahill acts as a neutral mediator, assisting couples come to an amicable resolution, which both parties feel is fair. Her mediation sessions are specifically designed to meet the needs of the couple and the clients individually. Successful mediations involve the readiness of both parties to participate and communicate, and a transparency of information on key issues. Dr. Cahill facilitates this, and encourages the couple to get input from mediation-friendly attorneys during the mediation process. She also serves as a review attorney for other mediations.
