Resolving Disputes Respectfully

Collaborative Practice — Finding Respectful and Creative Solutions to Divorce Without Litigation

The Mid-Jersey Collaborative Law Alliance is a group of attorneys, financial and mental health professionals and advisors who, after years of experience, have come  to believe that there is a better alternative to taking family issues to court.  Our members, whose offices are located in Mercer, Middlesex and Somerset Counties, recognize the emotional and financial concerns faced by families  going through the life-transition that a divorce requires.

Divorce places great emotional and financial stress on a family.  It is our goal to provide a respectful, trust-based environment where divorcing couples can work out solutions that fit  their unique needs and the needs of their children.  The choices that each couple makes at the beginning of their negotiations may determine the way their divorce turns out, the kind of relationship they have in the future, and how their children adjust.

You do have a choice .  You can get through the divorce process without increasing the hostility between you and your spouse and without yielding your control over decisions concerning your children and your finances.  You can have an attorney by your side through the process without yielding your control over the outcome. If you are unfamiliar with the Collaborative Law process, members of Mid-Jersey Collaborative Law Alliance are available to  help you understand its benefits.

Our goal is to make you and your spouse active participants — not merely outside observers — to the transition from an intact family to one which will move forward as separate individuals. As collaborative professionals, we can help you resolve divorce issues with dignity and respect.

In the collaborative process, husbands, wives, their attorneys, and any other collaborative professionals working with the family, agree to resolve all issues of their case without contentious court proceedings.  They plan together to craft an agreement.  They make thoughtful decisions that can actually work for the entire family.  You will be treated as an individual and your needs as well as the needs of your spouse and children, will be a priority.

Please take a few minutes to discover how Collaborative Law’s non-adversarial approach can help you and your family move forward with your lives.
